The Aibo Resurrected

Sony today announced the launch of a new Aibo model eleven years after the robotic dog companion was discontinued.

The ERS-1000 will launch in January in Japan only, other markets are expected to follow but no timeline was given. Initial cost will be around 200,000 yen but customers will need to take out an additional subscription plan to purchase and install extra abilities.

As in previous models, the dog will learn from its owners and environment to build its develop its own unique personality. It will move and act more like a real dog and will incorporate fish eye lens cameras, wifi connectivity ans well as location and mapping software.
